Overview

Under the supervision of the Director of Aquatics, the Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons in the aquatics area. Delivers excellent customer service to all members, guests, and program participants. Promotes all aquatic programs and activities. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the entire aquatics area. Responsible for managing the functions of the aquatics area in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff and Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

  • Protect lives and ensure patron safety. You are responsible for each life that is in the pool area. Be Alert, Be Diligent, Be Conscientious and Be Consistent
  • Participate in in-service training and staff meetings as scheduled by the Director of Aquatics
  • Report to duty 10 minutes before start time to receive information from the outgoing lifeguard
  • Maintain the proper dress code assigned, always including hip pack and rescue tube
  • Lifeguard must be in the lifeguard chair at all times when pool is occupied
  • Ensure that all records and lifeguard certifications are up to date
  • Perform appropriate patron surveillance and appropriate rescues as taught
  • Complete all tasks assigned
  • Enforce all pool and spa rules consistently
  • Maintain positive interaction with patrons of all ages
  • Assist in pool operations and maintain a safe and clean environment
  • Maintain records for all daily chemical checks and opening/closing procedures

Qualifications

  • Minimum 16 years of age preferred
  • Lifeguard/First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
  • Blood borne pathogens training required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with children and adults.
  • Ability to connect with people of a variety of backgrounds.
  • The employee frequently is required to walk, stand, kneel, and stoop.
  • Must be able to sit on the floor and get back up.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds.

Posted Salary Range

USD $15.45 - USD $15.45 /Hr.
